1. Porch, railings and bushes with mini lights
A small starter display: six strands of 6-inch spacing LED minis for bushes and a porch rail, all-in-one clips to attach them, and a photocell timer so the lights switch on at dusk.
Starter minis cart
Six strands is below the 18-strand break-even for the 24-strand case, so singles are the lower total here.
2. Single-story roofline up to 250 feet (kit)
The simplest full roofline: the 250' 15" C9 kit covers a typical ranch or single-story house with bulbs, clips, stakes, plugs and zip cord included, plus a photocell.
250' roofline kit cart
A kit is the lower cash outlay for a single house because socket wire is sold loose only in 1,000-foot spools.
3. 150-foot roofline built from parts
For a buyer who wants a different clip than the kit includes, or who plans to add more houses later, this cart starts from a full spool and prices bulbs and clips at the lowest mix for 150 sockets at 15-inch spacing (about 187 feet of roofline).
150-socket parts cart
Leaves roughly 800 feet of socket wire for future runs. All-in-one clips are used here since they suit many gutter and shingle edges.
Compared with cart 2, this costs $46.66 more up front but leaves most of a spool for next year.
4. 1,000-foot installer run from parts
An installer cart for 1,000 feet at 15-inch spacing, priced part by part. Bulbs and clips use the lowest case-and-pack mix, with extra plugs for cutting the run into sections and a four-pack of photocells.

5. 1,000-foot installer run as a kit
The same length bought as the 1,000' 15" kit plus four photocells. The kit includes 50 male and 100 female plugs, 600 O clips and 200 stakes instead of the 800 clips in cart 4.
1,000' installer kit cart
Cart 5 is $71.04 more than cart 4. The carts are not identical: the kit swaps 200 clips for 200 stakes and includes fewer male plugs. Pick based on how you will mount the lights and how many sections you plan to cut. The kit vs parts page compares kits against their exact contents.
Checklist before you order
- Measured every run and added about 10 percent for corners and drops.
- Picked one color temperature per roofline and noted it for future replacements.
- Chose the clip for your roof edge: O clips for gutters, shingle tabs for shingles, all-in-one clips for mixed edges.
- Checked each line against the case break-even count on the pack vs case page.
- Counted what you already own from last season.
